Have you heard of the Legend of the Wandering Jew?
That is Christianity's attempt to explain away this unfulfilled prophecy of Jesus.
Just another nail in the coffin of the Bible's supposed infallibility ...
matthew 16:28.
"i tell you with certainty, some people standing here will not experience death before they see the son of man coming in his kingdom.".
mark 9:1. then he said to them, "i tell you with certainty, some people standing here will not experience death until they see the kingdom of god arrive with power.".

have posted this on the other thread but just making this one as well:
i need to let you know that dad passed away this morning at 8am.
he fought so hard but in the end they could not get his blood pressure to rise and he died of heart failure.
Stephanie,
I was so sorry to read your sad news.
It gave your dad great comfort that your mum, and three of his four kids, had escaped from WT's clutches.
Your dad had a quiet and gentle dignity that gave his words great power. He will be greatly missed.
My warm love to your family.
(Sorry I only came across your thread today.)
as you may be aware, my wife and i dad ourselves on sunday afternoon.
it was announced to our old congregation last night (tuesday).
it will apparently be announced to their sister congregation tomorrow (thursday).. .
Congratulations. Welcome to the rest of your life!
(Sorry, I've been away and only just noticed this thread ...)
the local hall just gave a local needs talk on not circulating losch's talk that's been here on the internet as well as in a number of witness hands.
evidently quite a few jws are listening to the tape, making copies and letting everyone hear it.
well, the "faithful & discreet slave" has said not to do this any longer.
if i were going to comment on a deep philosophical doctrine, i would first outline what that doctrine was,has the wtbs ever dne this properly with the trinity?
from memory they have only ever reasoned at the level"one plus one plus one = 3, not one" type of argument, and odd references to trinities in pagandom.. surely a college education would be of benefit to them so they know how to present a thesis?.
love.
God of the Old Testament = YHWH
That's fine if you prefer YHWH; I only used Yahweh because that seems the preferred form of Biblical scholars.
OK, this is where the words become confusing. To the JW mind, God=Jehovah=Father. From a Trinitarian point of view, "God" is three Persons. Moreover, there have always been the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
I think I understand the distinction you're explaining.
However, what I don't understand is whether there is any continuity, and if so what is it, between YHWH and the Trinitarian "God"?
Is there a direct correspondence between YHWH and any one of the persons of the Trinity, or is YHWH the same as the Godhead, all three persons of the Trinity?
Or do Trinitarians believe that the Old Testament understanding of YHWH had become outdated by the time of Jesus and was therefore replaced by Jesus or the Trinitarian "God"?
Or am I still not understanding ...?

While giving Jesus Christ lip service, they are probably the least respectful of the deified christ concept of any nominally christian church.
I think I agree with you (from my limited knowledge of other Christian denominations).
they think that their 144,000 are practically on a par with the christ!
I suspect you'll find they only think the GB is equal with the Christ ... !
People who openly profess belief in the Trinity doctrine absolutely believe the God of the Old Testament is part of the Trinity.
That's interesting.
Is there a reason you refer to "the God of the Old Testament" rather than "Yahweh" or "Jehovah"?
If "the God of the Old Testament" is part of the Trinity, which part is he? Is he the Father, Son or Holy Spirit?
Thank you.
If the argument above is true, then Abraham should have been dead also – or Jehovah is not God.
Which argument are you referring to ...?
Thanks.

Good questions!
Please be more specific. Are you asking...
- Whether or not one of us personally believes this to be so?
- Whether or not Trinitarians believe this to be so?
- Whether or not there is Biblical support for this idea?
I'm not sure if there is such a thing as 'orthodox' Trinitarianism, but I was asking what is generally understood by Trinitarians, whom I assumed (was I wrong?) would be the same group as those xJWs here who are now Christians.
I would also be interested in what Biblical support is available for the idea.

Do any of the Christians here know whether the Yahweh of the Old Testament is any part of the Trinity?

I was a kid in the same era, but we never had nuclear bomb drills in UK schools.
So did your drills consist of hiding under a desk and covering yourself with a blanket, Lady Lee, or was there more to it?
